Birla Opus Primers & Putty

Primers and wall putty from the One, Calista and Style ranges. This is the preparation layer — the part of a paint system that is invisible when finished and responsible for most of what goes wrong when it is skipped.

How we choose between them

Primer follows the substrate porosity and the finish above it. Putty is specified where the wall needs levelling before a smooth finish — but putty over a damp wall traps the moisture behind a hard layer and blows off in sheets, so substrate moisture is checked before any of it is applied.
