This treatment is specified where the inspection shows it is the right answer for the problem found.

Where it applies. Cracks, construction joints, honeycombed concrete and voids that are actively passing water, and situations where the water-facing side cannot be reached — basement walls behind soil, retaining walls, lift pits, water tanks in service, slab-to-wall junctions, and leaks between floors of an occupied building. Injection treats the crack through its full depth from whichever side you can get to, which is why it is often the only option. It is not a substitute for a membrane on an open surface, and any contractor proposing injection across a whole terrace is proposing the wrong thing.

Choosing the grout. PU (polyurethane) grout for active, running water: it reacts with water and expands to fill the void, so it is injected against flow and stops it. It stays flexible, which suits a joint that moves, but it is a water-stop rather than a structural repair. Epoxy grout where the crack is structural and the section needs to be re-bonded to its original strength — it is rigid and requires a dry or nearly dry crack, so it follows PU rather than replacing it where water is present. Acrylic and microfine cement grouts for larger voids, honeycombing and curtain injection behind a wall. The diagnosis determines the grout; we state which one is being used and why on the estimate.

Preparation and application. The crack is mapped and its depth and activity established. Injection packers are drilled at an angle to intersect the crack at depth, spaced at roughly half the section thickness — typically 150 to 300 mm apart — and staggered on alternate sides where access allows. The crack face is surface-sealed so grout builds pressure inside it rather than escaping. Injection then runs from the lowest packer upward, at controlled pressure, holding each port until grout shows at the next one — that is the confirmation the crack is filling continuously. Pumping to a pressure figure alone tells you nothing about coverage.

Curing and finishing. PU reacts and expands within minutes and the leak generally stops during injection. Epoxy cures over 24 hours to handling strength and 7 days to full strength. Packers are cut off and the ports and surface seal are made good with a repair mortar once cure is complete, then the area is finished to match.

Pricing and warranty. Injection grouting is priced per injection point rather than per square foot, typically ₹650 to ₹1,400 depending on section depth, access and grout type — so the estimate states the number of points, and a revision is agreed with you if the crack proves deeper or longer than surveyed. The treated area is water-tested afterwards by reproducing the original leak condition. Eligible completed work carries Leakproofs by Betterwork’s written warranty on the treated area.

How we carry out the work

  1. 1

    Free site inspection

An engineer visits at a time that suits you, examines the affected area and traces where the water is actually entering.

  2. 2

    Diagnosis & written estimate

You get a clear explanation of the cause, the treatment we recommend, and a fixed written price before any work begins.

  3. 3

    Surface preparation

Cracks are cut and filled, loose material removed and the surface cleaned. Skipping this is why most waterproofing fails.

  4. 4

    Application & curing

The chosen system is applied in the specified number of coats, with the correct curing time allowed between each.

  5. 5

    Water testing & handover

We flood-test or water-test the treated area, walk you through the result, and issue your warranty document.

Frequently asked questions

How much does terrace waterproofing cost in Pune per sq ft?
Terrace waterproofing in Pune typically runs between ₹55 and ₹130 per square foot. The rate depends on the system specified — an acrylic or cementitious coating sits at the lower end, while APP membrane, PU and epoxy systems cost more but last longer. Surface condition matters too: if a failed layer has to be removed or cracks cut and filled first, that preparation is part of the price. Use our cost calculator for an indicative range, or book a free inspection for a written quotation.
Who are the most reliable waterproofing contractors in Pune with a warranty?
Look for three things before hiring: a written warranty rather than a verbal promise, a documented inspection before any quotation, and manufacturer authorisation for the materials being applied. Leakproofs by Betterwork issues a 10-year written warranty on eligible projects, carries out a deep-scan inspection with a detailed report before quoting, and is an authorised Dr. Fixit applicator as well as an Asian Paints and Birla Opus Paint partner, with 10+ years of work across Pune and PCMC.
What is the best permanent solution for bathroom water leakage in Pune flats?
In most Pune flats the leak comes from the sunk slab beneath the bathroom, not the visible tiles. A permanent fix means opening the sunk portion, repairing the concealed plumbing if it has failed, applying a fresh waterproofing membrane across the slab and up the walls, then flood-testing before refilling. Surface sealants and grout repairs treat the symptom and typically fail within a season. In some cases the sunk slab can be treated without breaking the floor tiles — the inspection determines whether that is possible on your bathroom.
Which waterproofing method is best for heavy rainfall areas like Pune?
For Pune's monsoon, exposed terraces and roofs do best with a UV-stable elastomeric or APP membrane system that can handle thermal movement without cracking. Basements under groundwater pressure need a negative-side or crystalline treatment rather than a surface coating. External walls facing the prevailing rain benefit from a breathable water-repellent coating that sheds water while letting trapped moisture escape. The correct choice depends on exposure and the condition found during inspection — there is no single method that suits every surface.
What causes roof leakage during the Pune monsoon?
The common causes are shrinkage cracks in the slab or screed, failed or aged waterproofing coating, blocked rainwater outlets causing ponding, defective parapet and slab junctions, and gaps around pipe penetrations. Water frequently travels along the slab before appearing inside, so the damp patch on your ceiling is often some distance from the actual entry point. That is why we deep-scan to locate the source rather than treating the visible stain.
Can you recommend a professional waterproofing company near Baner or Wakad, Pune?
Leakproofs by Betterwork works across West Pune including Baner, Wakad, Hinjewadi, Aundh, Balewadi, Bavdhan, Pashan and Kothrud, as well as East Pune, South and Central Pune, and the whole of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Inspections in these areas are usually scheduled within two to three days, and the visit, the deep-scan survey and the written report are free with no obligation.
How do I permanently treat wall dampness and seepage?
First identify which kind of damp you have. Rising damp travels up from the plinth and shows as a tide mark near the floor with salt deposits. Lateral seepage comes through an external or shared wall and appears as patches that worsen after rain. Condensation collects on cold surfaces in poorly ventilated rooms. Each needs a different treatment, and repainting over any of them without addressing the source simply moves the problem a few months down the line.
How long does waterproofing work take?
Most residential jobs finish in two to five working days, depending on the treated area and the curing time each coat requires. Bathroom work needs that bathroom out of use while the system cures. Larger commercial and industrial projects are scheduled in phases so the building keeps operating. We confirm the schedule in writing before starting.
Is the site inspection really free?
Yes. An engineer visits, deep-scans the affected area to map moisture and locate the source of the leak, and gives you a detailed written report with a recommended treatment and a fixed estimate. There is no charge and no obligation to proceed.
What does the 10-year warranty cover?
Eligible completed projects are covered by a written 10-year warranty on the treated area. The work is water-tested in front of you before handover. If a covered issue arises during the warranty period we provide repair support according to the agreed warranty terms, which are stated on your estimate before you approve it.
