How it is applied

Applied over a well-prepared substrate. Sheen finishes are less forgiving of surface imperfection than matt — preparation quality shows through directly, so the putty and sanding stage matters more here.

Preparation is the part that decides whether the system lasts. Loose material and failed old coatings are removed, cracks are cut and filled, and the surface is cleaned and brought to the moisture condition the product requires before anything is applied. Skipping that stage is the single most common reason waterproofing fails in its first season, whichever brand is on the tin.
