Product description

Leakproofs by Betterwork specifies and applies SmartCare Crack Seal as part of a complete waterproofing system. A material on its own does not stop a leak — what stops it is the right material chosen for the right defect, on a surface that has been properly prepared. Where SmartCare Crack Seal is used

This product is specified for cracks, walls.

• Hairline and fine cracks in interior and exterior plaster
• Crack treatment before repainting an elevation
• Preparation ahead of a waterproof coating
• Fine cracks around fixings and frames

Suitable substrates: Plaster, Masonry, Concrete.

How it is applied

The crack is opened out and cleaned, then the filler worked well into it and finished flush. On external work the filled crack is covered by the waterproofing or paint system rather than left exposed on its own.

Preparation is the part that decides whether the system lasts. Loose material and failed old coatings are removed, cracks are cut and filled, and the surface is cleaned and brought to the moisture condition the product requires before anything is applied. Skipping that stage is the single most common reason waterproofing fails in its first season, whichever brand is on the tin.
