Product description

Leakproofs by Betterwork specifies and applies SmartCare Damp Block 2K as part of a complete waterproofing system. A material on its own does not stop a leak — what stops it is the right material chosen for the right defect, on a surface that has been properly prepared. Where SmartCare Damp Block 2K is used

This product is specified for walls, bathroom, basement, water tanks.

• Bathroom and wet-area substrates before tiling
• Water tanks and sumps
• Basement walls treated from the inside
• Exterior and interior wall structures
• Any surface where the waterproofing will be buried

Suitable substrates: RCC, Plaster, Masonry, Concrete.

How it is applied

The two components are mixed at the specified ratio — not gauged by eye — and applied by brush in coats at right angles to one another, with tape at corners, junctions and penetrations. Wet areas are flood-tested before they are filled.

Preparation is the part that decides whether the system lasts. Loose material and failed old coatings are removed, cracks are cut and filled, and the surface is cleaned and brought to the moisture condition the product requires before anything is applied. Skipping that stage is the single most common reason waterproofing fails in its first season, whichever brand is on the tin.
