Leakproofs by Betterwork specifies and applies Dr. Fixit Raincoat Select as part of a complete waterproofing system. A material on its own does not stop a leak — what stops it is the right material chosen for the right defect, on a surface that has been properly prepared. Where Dr. Fixit Raincoat Select is used

This product is specified for walls.

• High-rise elevations where re-access is expensive
• Buildings on exposed sites taking sustained driven rain
• Society repainting programmes with a long recoat interval
• Elevations previously coated with a product that failed early

Suitable substrates: Plaster, Masonry, Concrete.

How it is applied

Brush or roller applied over a fully prepared, crack-treated and primed substrate. On a high-rise the access cost usually exceeds the material cost, which is the practical argument for specifying the longer-life grade rather than repeating the scaffolding in five years.

Preparation is the part that decides whether the system lasts. Loose material and failed old coatings are removed, cracks are cut and filled, and the surface is cleaned and brought to the moisture condition the product requires before anything is applied. Skipping that stage is the single most common reason waterproofing fails in its first season, whichever brand is on the tin.
